I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S NOT BUTTER!

Emily Collyer’s film, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!, was made (DIY style) in the artist’s studio, with fruit from Morrisons Too-Good-to-Go bags.

The piece explores food and sex, (we’ve all been asked the question, would you rather live without food or without sex, no?) and the relationship between the two entities; the indulgence, the emotional cravings, the necessity. In I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, the artist lathers themselves in the edible lubricant, whilst visibly treading the line between internal distress and sexual pleasure.

Cat filmed and edited the process, distorting the sound and visuals balancing a viewers intrigue and discomfort.

A mess was made and studio technicians complained of the smell the next day.
